ClipperCMS 1.2 is here!

02 Aug 2013 MODx, internet

ClipperCMS, a lightweight, fast and flexible PHP CMS framework, is out, and it's good! Clipper is based on a fork of MODX Evolution 1.0.6. It's been developed by people who are keen to keep the flexibility of MODX but have not found Revolution right for them. They see the advantages of Evolution in its simplicity and speed, and started working on Clipper when it looked as if there would be no further "official" development of the Evo branch. By the time Evolution 1.0.9 & 1.0.10 came out, Clipper had gone far enough down its own road to make reconvergence with Evo unlikely.

So what's so great about Clipper? Quite a few things, actually, among them:

The download includes a whole new Clipper Demo site, with a Help section explaining how various elements have been used in it, and a couple of tasty recipes among the example pages.

The documentation is being built up on the Clipper site, dwelling initially on what's different from MODX.

The above are just a few points from the release announcement for ClipperCMS 1.2. If you've been a fan of MODX (either version), or if you're just looking for a great CMS, head on over to clippercms.com and read all about it, download it and try it out!

Yes, just change the first line of code in config.inc.php from

$database_type = 'mysql';
to
$database_type = 'mysqli';
