Other sources of information on Ditto
The articles on Ditto on this site are neither comprehensive nor exhaustive. They reflect my own experience using the snippet. Listed below are some of the resources I have found useful while developing my skills with Ditto and researching for the site.
The official Ditto documentation site has masses of information about Ditto 2.1. It pays to explore a little. Specific areas for reference include the parameters list and the areas devoted to specific extenders.
There is quite a lot of documentation in the form of comments within the Ditto snippet itself and the PHP files for the extenders. Well worth reading even if you don't know much about PHP.
The Wiki Ditto pages are largely out of date (yeah, OK, I should learn how to update them), but still useful. They have some useful links of their own.
I have found the compilation of Ditto 2.0.1 documents by Bill "mysfriendcallmebill" Fernandez incredibly useful. It's what inspired me to work on this site in the first place. I have used it extensively, referring to the official Ditto site to bring the parameters up to date.
Various threads on the MODx Ditto forum have provided the key to unlock vital secrets. It's in the nature of things that the bookmarks and other notes you make of them get lost on the mush very quickly, but I'll try to add them here as I track them down again.
Dates are a hardy perennial among the cries for help on the forum. Key concepts here are Unix time and PHP's strftime() function to format it. Plus, of course, creating template variables in MODx to house your custom date fields.
